The film has been completed and Copyrighted with the Library of Congress. It has also been submitted to a few film festivals for consideration. Currently we are working on a DVD including behind the scenes, production pictures and the story behind the story. Next we will be sending out copies to all of those who participated in the making of the film. We are creating a pre-order page to make this DVD available to the public. The sale of this DVD will fund our next portion of the project that is a documentary on the journey through cancer from the caregivers perspective. Please accept my apologies for not writing sooner. We have been busy about our Bit of Forever business with editing, ADR, scoring, sound correcting, coloring and all else that goes into the make of a short film. We hope to have something together by the new year included a DVD of just the movie as well as interviews of people who have been affected by cancer. It is our hope to create a support DVD for people to purchase and get answers on how to support someone with cancer.

One of the most difficult things that we have found in the film making process is knowing when to stop. You can continue writing, filming and editing and never get the picture done. Yes you could have always gotten a scene done better. Better lighting. Better sound. Better acting. Better locations or costumes. But sometimes you just have too make due with what you have. A good story is most important and people will either love it or hate it. And that its the true course of a content creator. I pray that we can touch the lives of others through our efforts.

With that being said, we are at picture lock. And we move on to scoring, sound design and coloring. We hope to have this out the beginning of the year.

Filming - Day 1

Filming started this past week for the movie with our first location being the Alta Sierra Biblical Gardens in Grass Valley, CA. It was a warm day but the beauty and lighting inside the trail with the canopy of trees and the stream was magnificent. Tressa was a trooper hiking the trails in a full sweat suit in what ended up being a scorching day at 99 degrees. But the shots we got were beautiful and the camera really captured the tender moment as Christine’s world came crashing down. We promise to post more pictures of the first day of shooting on our Facebook Fan Page.

We are so honored to introduce the following people to the A Bit of Forever project: Tressa Ohler as Christine, Peter Hamblin Oakes as Brad, Yvette Wright Gauff as Leslie, Brian Jagger as Dr. Laing and Elena Sogard as the Neighborhood Girl. They will be joined by Randle Rankin as 1st AD/Art Director/Musical Director, Jen M’liss Kingston as DP, Jonathan Patton as AC/Colorist, Mark Withey as Script Supervisor/PA, Allison Gibson as Documentarian/PA, and David Eugene Ivey as Composer.

We are still looking for assistance with Sound, Makeup/Hair and additional PA’s as needed. With so many talented people auditioning it was a hard decision and everyone honored me, humbled me and KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF!!

With all that said now….LET’S MAKE A MOVIE!!!!

Our film production schedule is set for the month of July and we are having our casting call on Thursday, June 28th. We are so excited and hope that those in the Sacramento region will join us. If you are interested in auditioning, please email us at the email listed below.

Also, we wanted to send a special THANK YOU to everyone who was able to contribute towards the initial crowd funding of our short film. Your love and support is so appreciated as the story, we believe, is going to touch the lives of those who have suffered losing someone to cancer.

Onward and Upward

We found out recently that our short film was NOT chosen to be part of the 2012 Place Called Sacramento Film Festival through Access Sacramento. Though this was disappointing, it did free up our schedule to focus more on development and fundraising. We hope to have auditions sometime in June after we see about meeting our fundraising goal. Love Never Fails

I have faced alot while my husband has been fighting cancer. I have gone through some wilderness journeys in my life. And this one is by far one of the most difficult. There is a difference when love wanes and fades away between two people. Some people give in during this time and end up divorcing. That happened in my first marriage. But to have the love of your life be challenged and possibly taken by a terminal illness, this is a challenge unique unto itself.

This is what I was facing when I wrote A Bit of Forever. And it was through this piece and the love I continued to see after writing that I understand that the love Mark and I share is not a bi-product, it is a reflection. It is a reflection of THE greatest love in this entire universe. God. The Creator. And it is this love that A Bit of Forever speaks of and is a testimony to. For it is His love that sustains me on a daily basis. And it’s this love that I’ve seen in the nurses, doctors and many others in the Infusion Centers we have visited. And if that mirror of that love should shatter or fade away, it does not mean that love goes away. Because love is not a feeling. It is a “thing”. It is God. And God will never leave me nor forsake me.

We hope to have more information regarding when we will be shooting soon. For now it depends on when we can complete raising the funds for the movie. But for now, we are planning on filming in July 2012.

We are honored to have brought on board David Eugene Ivey as the composer for our movie. I have had the distinct pleasure of singing and writing with David for the past 10 years. He is an incredible talent and is one of Sacramento’s best kept secrets, until now.

David has been playing music for over 30 years and has absorbed the music of many great artists to form his own distinct and sound. From Pat Metheny, Peter Gabriel, Journey, John Denver, Coldplay, Jai Utal, Pink Floyd, The Greatful Dead and David Lanz as being some of the strongest influences in his music. He was honored to be used in the short film Are You My Girlfriend? in 2010, included in the upcoming film No Parking and featured in a recent article by SacTV.

The song Improvising The City was created while David was on vocal rest after some throat surgery and is available for download on SoundCloud. You can also follow him on his Reverb Nation, Tumblr and Twitter accounts.

The Senate is about to vote on a bill to amend the securities laws to provide for registration exemptions for certain crowdfunded securities, and for other purposes. The act is known as the ‘‘Capital Raising Online While Deterring Fraud and Unethical Non-Disclosure Act of 2012’’ or the ‘‘CROWDFUND Act’’.

Shame…is the one thing that is so closely attached to the fight with cancer. For men fighting this disease, it’s the face of being utterly weak to its powerful grip. To women, it’s not being enough. This TED talk speaks of the grip of shame and how it’s antidote is vulnerability and empathy. And that is at the very core of A Bit of Forever. It is a heart vulnerable, wide open and transparent for all the world to see. It’s empathy reaching out to say “I’ve been there too” and sooth the brokenness people might be dealing with in the secret rooms of their heart.

Thank you Brene´ for being vulnerable and I hope my short film will touch as many hearts with it’s empathic, transparent message as yours does.
